Reading the directory needs no account and sets no cookie. There is no advertising network and no third-party tag on any page — every image and script is served from this domain, and your browser is never asked to open a connection to anybody else’s server.

A page view is recorded so a maker can see how their listing is doing. It stores a salted hash of your address and browser, the site that linked you (the domain only, never the full URL), and the page. Your address itself is never stored — the hash cannot be reversed, and it exists so a refresh does not count twice.

Separately from the per-listing count above, we keep site-wide statistics — how many people read the site, and which pages and which links brought them here. They are collected by Umami, which runs on the same machine we rent for this site. The script that collects them is served from this domain and reports back to this domain, so nothing is sent to an analytics company and nothing is stored on your device — which is why there is no consent banner to click.

What a visit records:

• the address of the page, including anything after the ? — that is how a campaign link gets credited, and it also means the words go with it if you used the search box
• the page title, and the site that linked you
• your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language, all read from what the browser announces
• the country your address resolves to

Visits are tied together by an identifier derived from your address, your browser’s identification string and a secret kept on that machine. Your address itself is not stored, and the identifier is never written to your device — nothing about it survives in your browser once you close the tab.

If your browser sends Do Not Track or Sec-GPC, none of this happens. The script is not even fetched, so there is no request to refuse; and if one reaches us anyway, the server discards it instead of recording it. Firefox and Brave send Global Privacy Control by default — elsewhere it is a setting or an extension.

We store your email address, and your name and picture if you sign in through GitHub or Google. Signing in by email sends a single-use link; we never ask for or store a password.

A vote stores the same salted hash as a page view, so a ring of accounts voting from one machine is visible. It is what lets the counts on this site mean something. A vote flagged by that check is kept and marked rather than deleted, so a mistake can be undone.

• Our own server. The database is a file on a virtual machine we rent. It is not shared with another product. The Umami instance holding the visitor statistics is on that same machine, run by us — it is not a service anybody else operates or reads.
• Resend delivers email, so it sees the address a message goes to.
• Cloudflare answers DNS for this domain and forwards mail sent to it.

Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared for advertising.

A copy of what we hold about you, a correction, or deletion. Write to hello@worthtotry.com and we will answer within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your listings, comments and votes.

The weekly email is double opt-in — the address does nothing until you confirm it — and every message carries a one-click unsubscribe that needs no sign-in.

Account data for as long as the account exists. View records are aggregated into a per-listing count and the detailed rows are pruned. Vote records are kept while the listing is published, because a vote count that cannot be recomputed from its rows is a number nobody can check.

The site-wide visitor statistics are kept for as long as the comparison is useful — this month against last year is most of what they are for. They carry no address and nothing that was ever written to your device.
